History of the Club
Inishowen sub aqua club was formed in October of 1996 and affiliated to C.F.T in November of that year. Headquarters are at Neds point in Buncrana, in the old lifeboat station . Meetings are generally held the last Thursday of each month where members ideas and suggestions as well as outstanding club business is aired and discussed. The club recruits new members annually and trains them to the highest standards, following all of the rules and guidelines of C.F.T. The club also has within its ranks a Search and Recovery Unit. This is a totally voluntary unit which responds to requests from the statutory bodies and from local communities to assist in search and recovery operations. The club is in possession of 2 compressors. (one based in the clubhouse powered by a three phase generator, the other a portable Bauer unit.) I.S.A.C. has 2 RIB boats. These RIBs with their 140HP four stroke Suzuki's engines really open up those spectacular divesites around the North West Donegal coastline. The club is blessed with some of the most spectacular dive locations on the West Coast of Europe. The North Donegal coastline is breathtaking in its scope and variety.From Lough foyle , Kinnego bay, right around as far as St. Johns Pt in Donegal Bay.Waters with an abundance of shipwrecks not least the legendary Laurentic.Malin Head presents a myriad of dive sites for both shore and boat dives.
